Gears 5 Spring Quarter Power Rankings (Professional Teams)

Did you miss us last week? Sorry about that Alex “Great” Weitzner, but your old pal had to do his best to Jip people throughout three different tournaments (a Top 4, Top 8, and Top 16 for yours truly). Now back on track with our Gears of War Pro League Teams, which we haven’t commented on in more than a week. Last time we spoke together, the old Vanquish squad was leaving and we didn’t know what to expect. A late welcome comes to the new Vanquish roster, which a lot of your amateur enthusiast would know as the former InControl roster. So let’s get to the Power Rankings. As always though, a few disclaimer notes.

Now if for some reason you missed the Pro League matches (please insert whatever excuse into my DM’s on Twitter @JipperyMcCloud), we will give you the key to the town so you can explore the breakdown by match and map count at the following link: https://bit.ly/2wxZ4ND.

Last but not least, we here at the #GetJipped Power Rankings try our best to stay up to date with all news for not only the Pro League teams, but also the Amateur teams (which is a lot of content to cipher through). This means we keep our ears to the ground for other tournaments these teams participate in, trade/roster rumors, opponents they won or lost too, and all of the fundamentals that break down all the teams we evaluate. When these power rankings are made, they are with the perception of what I’ve seen, heard, and evaluated at the time being. I’m sure there will be times that this will be put to the test and I will be corrected by the community, but that’s half the battle is to work together as a whole to get it right.

#GetJipped Week 4 Pro League Power Rankings

1. UYU (Xplosive, MentaL, Kenny Bounce, PowerZ, praized, Ashes)

It might have taken a few weeks of getting the roster to click on all cylinders, but here comes the duo of Xplosive and Mental with their new shiny toys in Kenny Bounce and PowerZ. Don’t forget about their longtime coach in Ashes bringing up the strategies and keeping the team on their path in the right direction for the Revenge Tour. On another note, one person who seems to be more quiet on the team as of late is praized, but don’t let that fool you. He is doing more support in the past few weeks than he has in recent memory, but he can still come in the clutch when he needs to.

UYU was ready to be the kings of the rankings, as they took out both Quarantine and Rise Nation in a 2-0 fashion, one being a comeback on Icebound against Quarantine that shouldn’t have happened. Now we wait to see if this UYU team skips a beat in some of their matches or if they stay consistent and become an extremely hard team to go against for all opponents.

Catch the UYU Revenge Tour live this week on the Gears Esports channel against Parallax Gaming and on the Colin Clarke’s broadcast against Vanquish.

2.Quarantine (FraNChise, Icy, SOLURS, RushieZ, Mortifys8197, FatalStryke)

After weeks of showcasing why they are the top team to beat, Quarantine finally had a slip up against their rivals in UYU. Make no mistake, this team played a hell of a match on Icebound and if they would have closed out that map, maybe the momentum going into the next map wouldn’t have been so lopsided. I would expect that after the collapse on that map, that some of the players on this roster was caught by surprised they lost the game and just wasn’t in the right headspace for the next game. I totally believe Quarantine will be jumping right back into beating the rest of these teams, but this roster needs to make sure they don’t fall into the “mental block of old”, meaning them losing to the roster of UYU consistently.

Fatalstryke will get this team back on track and ready to cook for tomorrow’s games, but one player we will be looking out for in the coming days is Mortifys8197. Although Morty has fit into this new roster well and has shown his worth, he looked lost against UYU and the Twitch chat let him know it. Just cancel out the noise, play his game, and that will already tremendously help out going into tomorrow. I also want to see the leaders of the team in game make sure to stay focused if anything goes wrong. We’ve seen Quarantine multiple times now bounce back from inevitable situations, but with this new iteration, is that come back from the dead mentality there? This is the first time we’ve seen them lost in the league, but I feel the squad isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. They will improve from what was last week and showcase why they are a top team.

Stay safe and Quarantined as you can catch this team play on the Gears Esports stream against PDHM Gaming and on the Colin Clarke’s broadcast against Rebel.

3.Parallax Gaming (Xysho, Gearries, Abo, Lanarchy6016, Toti, Jackal Tenebris)

If there was a team in the league that just wanted to let you know they are here and don’t care about who or what you think are the better teams, that would have to be our friends over at Parallax Gaming. Although I will be the one that says at this moment, Parallax Gaming can’t seem to find the winning formula against the champs in Quarantine, the question now becomes what can they do against the other powerhouse in UYU? They get their first crack tomorrow on the Gears Esports Stream.

Now with that being said, I will say that currently, I don’t believe most other teams in the Pro League can handle Parallax Gaming. Which is why I’m excited to see what their off broadcast match against Rise Nation will look like. If Parallax Gaming can come out of the gates and knock Rise Nation down and out, I think we might have found the next best team after both Quarantine and UYU. Any given Sunday though right? Parallax Gaming has the chance to come out and knock out two teams that are well known and high ranked in the Pro League. That is the story all fans should focus on this week.

Differ your perspective and catch this roster on the Gears Esports Stream against UYU and Colin Clarke’s broadcast against Rise Nation.

4.Rise Nation (Avexys, Drix, ShocK, DeTox, INZEM, Affinity)

The Kings of Online have shown some chinks in their armor as of late, but still a strong opponent for any of these other teams to face. The thing that is always intriguing about this Rise Nation roster, is that it feels it is always changing to the next meta or the next man up. The current roster is the longest consistent five-man squad that they’ve brought to the table. I truly do believe that all of these players have found the way to complement each other to wreak havoc against any of the teams they go against. However, it comes down to them playing at their highest level consistently that is holding them back currently.

Don’t get me wrong at all here, both Affinity and JRibs have done a ton of work for this roster and it has shown throughout the progression of this squad. Now the only thing that needs to be tapped into is their true potential being top notch all of the time. I could see this roster coming out and knocking out UYU one day, but the next fall flat against any of the teams in the Pro League. So if all five of the players stay upbeat and cooking, this team would likely be one of the Top 3 teams consistently. This is why I would rate my match of the week to be Rise Nation vs. Parallax Gaming. These teams at this moment are evenly match and whoever wins this battle, will be the third best team in the Pro League.

Rise Up and catch this team on the Gears Esports Stream against Vanquish and on Colin Clarke’s Stream against Parallax Gaming.

5.Rebel (Krash, Sleepytime, Zerptingg, ReziK, Jerppy, Ozby Romero)

There is always that one team in the Pro League that I like to call my Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde team. I tend to use this reference a lot when it comes to even my own team because our consistency isn’t there as much as we would like, but if it was, we would be that much deadlier. So in regards to Rebel, they are that exact embodiment inside of this league. They can put up a great fight and even win out with the best in this league, but other times they drop an egg so big that it leaves fans scratching their heads.

Currently looking at this roster and team, Rebel is the middle ground team in the circuit. They usually beat the teams you expect them to take out (whether the matches are close or not), but on the other hand, even when they fight their hardest against the top of the food chain, they tend to fall short. To put this in perspective, observe the fact that all the teams above them on this list are ones they haven’t beat yet. To go into further analytics, they are 2-8 when it comes to going against these teams, with only taking a map off Quarantine and Rise Nation. So until this team can make the leap against one of these teams, Rebel will be stuck in a position that they are striving to get by, but always looking in their rear view mirror against the competition chasing them for their spot. Time will tell if they hold off their opponents, but the bottom part of this Pro League has been getting stronger over the course of the circuit. So they will need to come out and fight for their spot and make sure they avoid dipping to the point they might become relegated.

Be a part of the rebellion on the Gears of War Esports Stream as this team goes against Hive and will follow that up on Colin Clarke’s Stream against Quarantine.

6.PDHM Gaming (HBM Perfections, God Dazed, zR Tactix, R3ptilianx1, Z Crushmo, GreaT)

Remember Goated? Just in case if you missed the news, they have been signed by PDHM Gaming, so congratulations on this team for representing a great organization. This is a squad that is always ready to fight a good match, but haven’t been as dominant or forthcoming as I thought they would be. The fire in R3ptilianx1 alone is enough to make any fan of this team believe that they can come out and knock any team off their rocker. You have the always calm and composed Crushmo, and then the rest of this team is a cast of characters that at any moment can make the opposition regret underestimating them. However, I don’t feel the teams in the Pro League are still giving this team enough respect in matches and are simply going into each match with the idea of just out slaying them without much thought.

This of course, hasn’t worked for all teams that PDHM Gaming have gone against. Rise Nation faced a loss against this team a few weeks ago that most believed was an absolute shocker of a match, but PDHM just showed to the world how brilliant they can be when everything is synchronized within the team. Last week after watching them get their first win in the league, PDHM Gaming stopped the excitement for the new Vanquish roster and knocked them back into their place. So give or take, this is a team that shouldn’t be taken lightly, but it is currently one of the few teams in the Pro League that I believe most of the opponents are just trying to bully week in and out. However, with a coach like Alex and a roster filled with players who want to continue proving themselves, I think everyone needs to buckle up and get ready for some more fireworks from this team.

They are PDHM Gaming and you can catch them on the Gears Esports Stream against Quarantine and on Colin Clarke’s Stream against Hive.

7. Vanquish (Acells, HNC Precision, QG Rocky, Yachtyy, hndles, Purpatrate)

Let’s give a late congratulation to the new Pro League team in the new look Vanquish. Ave to say, this team fought super hard to make it into the Pro League and this is after the shocking lost they had in the qualifiers. Yet with the second chance after the former roster had their falling apart, gave new life to a team that can fight as hard as all of the teams in the Pro League. They only made some minor changes over their dominance in the Amateur Scene, but they got the right combination to make some noise now with adding hndles and Yachtyy over the former two players they had before their last roster change. The first week they had in the league went smooth in their broadcasted game against Hive as they knocked them out of contention, but they slipped up against PDHM Gaming on Colin Clarke’s Stream. So now with a week of work in against the two teams that surround them in these Power Rankings, we now get to see who they really are going into next week.

I’ve spoken of this roster many times in my Amateur Power Rankings over the many entries I had made about them being the best in the amateur league many times. Now I can’t wait to see what they do against the stronger teams in the Pro League. We will either see some amazing play from this young team that some don’t expect, or we will see some struggle this week. Depending on how they bounce after the results will be key for this team going into the rest of the league season. Just shoot straight, work together, and show out like they’ve been doing, and I think we can see some more upsets.

Vanquish the competition on the Gears Esports Stream when this young team faces off against Rise Nation. Followed by an epic game on Colin Clarke’s Stream against the top seeded UYU.

8. Hive (TJFORCE, Jefe, Tidy, Noey, Demise, l CraZy TraiN)

Alright. Hear me out. With the way Hive has been playing over the current league, it has been the worst we’ve seen them. Call it a slump or whatever you like, but this team has somehow dropped harder than a ton of rocks to the bottom of the ocean. What was Attack of the Swarm has now been sprayed with Off and the whole family is twitching on the ground. Enough of the puns, let’s take a look at what is a serious issue in the coming games and weeks.

If Hive can’t find the way back to their dominant roots this Sunday, then this young team of amazing and talented individuals will stay at the bottom of the ladder, being the last rung. They lost last week to new comers Vanquish and didn’t show any more life in their game against Rebel. Is it that their not an online team in general and just a better LAN team? I would say yes, but Hive and coach Crazy Train have to dig deep and find a way to fight off this slump. This Sunday will be the easiest week they have for the rest of the league play with matches against PDHM Gaming and Rebel. After that you ask? Quarantine, Parallax Gaming, Rise Nation, Vanquish, UYU, and Quarantine again. This is either lift off or drop dead week for the Killer Bees.

Swarm with the team this week on the Gears Esports Stream as they go against Rebel and follow the protection of the Hive on Colin Clarke’s Stream against PDHM Gaming.
